2007 Austin Titling Event

We'll i'm glad to say that we survived yet another year of kung fu. I moved up to my Jao Gow Level III and I must say this year was the hardest I've trained and it paid off. No bloody noses or footprints on my body so i must say very successful year! We had a blast visiting the rest of the kung fu family in Austin and the rest of them from Tyler, TX came down as well. Learned some new things and met some new people.

The most exciting part of the Texas trip was finally visiting The Salt Lick. I've heard about this place for years...since my Belkin days but never had a chance to go. I'm not sure where it is exactly, somewhere on the outskirts of Austin. The cool thing about the place is it's BYOB so you'll see people lugging around cases and coolers full of alcohol. The coolest thing about the place is the all you can eat BBQ ribs, brisket and sausage! Wow...i never really knew how happy bbq makes me. I should move to Texas because the stuff out here in Cali aren't cutting it!

2007 Berkeley Kung Fu Tournament

This was actually the first year i competed in the Berkeley tournament. I'm not much into the competition thing but it was sort of kind of forced upon me so i went. The first picture of me is owning everything on Tetris. I wonder if that is really something to be proud of. The middle one is me and a student from the Irvine school. She rocks...she makes her own dit dat jiao. The last pic is Bob's favorite restaurant in all of San Francisco. We went there two days in a row. The picture didn't come out that well i think because of the mirror behind us. Oh well...

I ended up with 7th on my empty hand form. That's 7 of out 14 just so it sounds a bit better. I did get 2nd place on my long weapon form though. The guy that beat me had way more training under his belt but I guess that's no real excuse. I wasn't too far away though. Looks like only .02 away from his score.
