Training with Kenneth Jay

Kenneth Jay was recently out in Southern California and Doc Cheng decided to bring him over for an informative kettlebell session with the Dane of Pain himself. All I have to say is THANK YOU to the both of you for the opportunity to learn from a couple of household names when it comes to safe and proper body mechanics and hardstyle kettlebell training.

If I had known that I would be so involved with kettlebells and martial arts during my young adult life, I may have taken up a health science major in school. It may happen in the near future...who knows.

Hopefully this weekend stays dry otherwise kettlebell classes will be cancelled during Valentine's Day.

As I started to say to many of my new victims to kettlebells over the last few days....it only hurts the first time!

Never Enough Training

Who needs safety mats when there's snow everywhere! Debbie and I decided to work our sha ba a little bit during our trip to Mammoth. It stormed all weekend and we found a perfect piece of sidewalk to have a little street fighting sessions. Oh ya...the slopes were good too!

Camp Pendleton goes RKC!

Never in my life would I have ever imagined having the opportunity to work side by side with the world's finest in fitness and strength training. I also never would have thought I would be sharing my knowledge to benefit the USMC and aiding them in the benefits of Russian Kettlebell training.

Well this past week, I did just that. The 1st Anglico company participated in the Russian Kettlebell Challenge directly from the RKC Chief Instructor - Pavel Tsatsouline. Thanks to my friend & mentor "Doc" Mark Cheng, I stood beside the RKC's finest to assist these devil dogs in their kettlebell experience.

After Day 1 of their 2-day course, it was amazing to hear how after just 24 hours, these soldiers were able to regain function in joints that they were not able to fully utilize over the past 2 years! Learning the hardstyle lock, snapping with the hips and rewiring the body for full body tension, these soldiers were able to regain much of the strength they thought was lost due to old injuries.

At the end of the day, I was proud to have served and given Thanks back to the soldiers of the 1st Anglico company for keeping keeping our Country safe.
